It turns out it is a word, just not a very well-known one.  The meaning is fairly self explanatory, as follows:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;trepidatious (adjective) : Aware of a sense of trepidation; fearful&lt;br /&gt;I was feeling quite trepidatious about that job interview, so I had a quick brandy to calm my nerves.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I think the best streetwise definition I've seen is "a combination of nervous and excited".  That works.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As to why I chose it for my blog name...I haven't a clue.
